Helping Children to Understand their Behaviour using Narratives

27 November 2024
Zoom | 10am – 1pm

Trainer: NATP – Inspire Training

This is advanced therapeutic parenting training and focuses on helping children to link their behaviour and fears to their internal world and history using empathic commentary and the curiosity element of PACE. Parents are given insight into the internal world of traumatised children. They are helped to understand that behaviour is a communication of a child’s unmet developmental needs, emotional state, and traumatic experiences. Parents are shown how to interpret such behaviour and meet the needs being expressed. A combination of naming the need, empathic commentary and creative narratives is used to dilute the Childs trauma and help them to use language to express themselves.
